For the new Monopoli–Fasano Hospital, Ikon Segnali developed a complete and coordinated wayfinding system, designed to guide patients, visitors, and healthcare staff within one of the most important hospital hubs of the Apulian public healthcare system.
The project was carried out in compliance with the Hospitality Guidelines of the Apulia Region, in force since 2018. These guidelines define a shared and recognizable identity system for all regional healthcare facilities, with the aim of improving welcome, orientation, and the overall user experience.
The implemented signage fully adheres to the regional identity system, integrating graphic design, architecture, and functional spaces into a uniform, clear, and inclusive visual language. Each element was designed to ensure readability, formal consistency, and ease of navigation, both indoors and outdoors.
Types of signage implemented:
- Cartesio
- Wall graphics
- External illuminated signs
- Outdoor totems
- Technical panels on external poles
The integration of these elements allows for immediate understanding of routes, services, and hospital functions, helping to reduce stress and enhance the experience of those who use the facility on a daily basis.
The Hospitality Guidelines define:
- a unique visual identity system, applied to signage, fittings, and furnishings;
- criteria for uniform and effective, patient-oriented signage;
- standards for welcoming, comfortable, and functional environments;
- a clear governance framework for system implementation and management;
- staff training programs aimed at improving relational and communication skills.
The Hospitality Project has been recognized as a best practice by the Ministry of the Interior and represents an innovative model for a more accessible, welcoming, and people-centered public healthcare system.
With this project, Ikon Segnali further confirms its expertise in the development of complex signage systems for public healthcare facilities, where clarity, reliability, and strict compliance with institutional guidelines are fundamental design principles.
