Community Health Center – Agrigento

Signage for the first community-based healthcare hub in Sicily

For the Casa della Comunità in Agrigento, located within the former “San Giovanni di Dio” hospital, Ikon designed and installed the new external and internal signage, enhancing visibility and accessibility across the facility.

The project included:

  • Directional totems and non-illuminated signs, to clearly identify the building and key access points.
  • Cartesio modular signage system, implemented throughout the interior spaces to ensure clarity and compliance with new healthcare communication standards.

A project within the framework of Italy’s PNRR plan

This initiative is part of the broader Strengthening of the Sicilian Hospital Network plan, financed through Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), which aims to upgrade or install new signage systems across healthcare facilities in the region. The Casa della Comunità in Agrigento is the first of its kind to be activated in Sicily.

Function and hospitality for community-centered healthcare

The signage system was designed to support the facility’s core mission: serving as a reference point for healthcare access, orientation, and patient support, particularly for chronic and vulnerable individuals. The structure promotes integration between medical, social, and general practitioner services—offering a holistic approach to care.
