On December 1, 2010, the largest surgery center in Italy opened in Veneto, in the Borgo Trento Hospital, Verona University Hospital (AOUI), with an investment of 212.5 million euros.
The center was named after Professor Pietro Confortini, a remarkable surgeon at the University Hospital, who performed the first kidney transplant in Veneto, the second in Italy, on November 29, 1968.
The Hospital Complex Authority covers over 96,000 net floor square meters, including – in addition to technical floors – the 4,400-square-meter E.D.A. (Emergency Department Admissions), the 5,700-square-meter General Outpatients’ Clinic, and the Surgery Center in the strict sense of the term, spanning 78,700 square meters. This center is made up of two basements, one technical floor, and six above-ground floors.
The Cartesio system, the protagonist of the signage project, has been complemented by custom solutions, such as illuminated wall arrows and glass signage.
