G. Martino Polyclinic – Messina

Outside the G. Martino Polyclinic of Messina there were too many signs positioned in the wrong places and in bad condition: they were of a different design and contained too much information.

The overall revision project of the outdoor signage was developed and implemented by IKON Segnali following the award of the European tender, in agreement with the Director of the Technical Department, Engineer Alessandro Caltagirone, and his collaborator, Industrial Designer Paolo Croce.

The goal was to build up a simple yet comprehensive information network to welcome users at the entrances of the Polyclinic and guide them to the various buildings. Near the three main entrances, an “information island” was located to orient the visitor with the map of the hospital area and alphabetical information about the location of departments and services.

Wayfinding signage, located at the main junctions, not only provides functional solutions for circulation but also offers a significant contribution to urban furnishing, blending harmoniously and pleasantly into the environment. The structures are entirely made of aluminum, with signs on octagonal pole sections with a diameter of Ø 180 mm, finished with reflective film to ensure visibility even during nighttime hours.
