Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza, the “House of Relief of Suffering”, the hospital of San Giovanni Rotondo was inaugurated in 1956, it is Padre Pio’s legacy and is now an important reality in healthcare assistance at a national and international level, known worldwide as the Hospital of Padre Pio. Located just a few tens of meters from the Convent of the Capuchin Friars where Saint Pio of Pietrelcina lived and died, the Hospital is a complex of buildings covering an area of approximately 100,000 square meters. Inaugurated in the 1950s, the House of Relief of Suffering is now a modern facility, organized according to the latest criteria in healthcare management and equipped with the most advanced technologies.
“The structure that will defy the centuries,” as Padre Pio described it, was initially opened to meet only the healthcare needs of the Gargano region and then has grown to reach the dimensions of a complex and articulated national and international organization. The wayfinding project, both indoor and outdoor, although employing modern supports, integrates perfectly with the architectural peculiarities of the structure.
The modular Meridio system was chosen for the line of signage support thanks to its elegant, contemporary, and convex surface.
